Rowan Hood, Outlaw Girl of Sherwood Forest

        When Rosemary arrives home from collecting herbs she finds her home in ashes. She keeps telling herself her mom survived but in her heart she knows not. Rosemary sets off, dressed as a boy to join Robin Hood (her father). She meets Guy of Gisborn, a harper called Lionel, and receives a present of a sturdy bow and arrows with peacock feathers from her kin the elfe. She finds her father but before she can tell him who she is, he's captured! She and her new friends have to work together to set him free.
    Rowan Hood by Nancy Springer is perfect for children ages 9-12 and I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
